Babahoyo city despite being one of the most populated cities in the Los Ríos province, it is recognized for being the fluvial capital of Ecuador, for its legends, its customs in addition to having the best commercial link, there are factors that impede its tourism development. The objective of this research was to identify the factors that impede tourism development in the Babahoyo city, Los Ríos province through a SWOT to propose possible growth solutions that benefit tourism and the community in general. A type of mixed research was applied, through surveys and interviews with the analyst in institutional strengthening of the Municipality of Babahoyo. The research concludes that one of the factors that prevent tourism development is the absence of attractions, poor tourism planning and professionals in the area do not undertake businesses related to tourismLa ciudad de Babahoyo es una de las ciudades más pobladas de la provincia de Los Ríos, es reconocida por ser la capital fluvial del Ecuador, por sus leyendas y sus costumbres, además posee el mejor enlace comercial; sin embargo, existen factores que impiden su desarrollo turístico; el objetivo de esta investigación es identificar cuáles son estos factores a través de encuestas y entrevistas para el desarrollo de un FODA que permita avizorar posibles soluciones de crecimiento, que beneficien al turismo y a la comunidad en general. La investigación concluye que uno de los factores que impiden el desarrollo turístico, es la ausencia de atractivos, la deficiente planificación turística y la necesidad de que los profesionales del área emprendan en negocios relacionados al turismo.
