dc.descriptionThis paper analyzes the potential of a sustainable tourist route in the La Manga del Cura sector of the El Carmen canton to promote sustainable development in the sector. The study was carried out in the La Manga Del Cura sector. Located southeast of the El Carmen canton, Manabí province, it covers an area of ​​approximately 487 km² with around 24,000 inhabitants. An interview was applied to 6 owners of recreation places and a survey to 393 inhabitants using a structured questionnaire to determine the tourist attractions, as well as the perception that the inhabitants have about the potential of a sustainable tourist route. The results show that the main tourist attractions are the Salto del Armadillo waterfall, the Salto del Pintado waterfall, the El Refugio spa, and the D`teo recreational center. It was also determined that these four main tourist attractions would make up the Sustainable Tourist Route, offering activities such as canopy, floating tube tours, camping, cycling, gastronomy, among others. These results suggest that the sustainable tourist route can support rural populations in the good management of their natural resources, the generation of income, and the sustainable economic development of the locality.en-US
dc.descriptionEl presente trabajo analiza el potencial de una ruta turística sostenible en el sector La Manga del Cura del cantón El Carmen para fomentar el desarrollo sostenible en el sector. El estudio se realizó en el sector La manga Del Cura ubicada al sureste del cantón El Carmen, provincia de Manabí, comprende una extensión de aproximadamente 487 km²​ con alrededor de 24 000 habitantes. Se aplicó una entrevista a 6 propietarios de lugares de recreación y una encuesta a 393 habitantes utilizando un cuestionario estructurado para determinar los atractivos turísticos, como también la percepción que tiene los habitantes sobre el potencial de ruta turística sostenible. Los resultados muestran que los principales atractivos turísticos son la cascada del Salto del Armadillo, cascada del Salto del Pintado, el balneario El Refugio, y el centro recreacional D`teo. Se determino además que estos cuatro atractivos turísticos principales conformarían la Ruta turística sostenible, brindando actividades como canopy, recorrido en tubos flotantes, camping, ciclismo, gastronomía, entre otros. Estos resultados sugieren que la ruta turística sostenible puede apoyar a las poblaciones rurales en el buen manejo de sus recursos naturales, la generación de ingresos, y al desarrollo económico sostenible de la localidad.es-ES
