This work was carried out with the objective of determining the relationship between the incidence and severity of coffee rust (Hemileia vastatrix) in central jungle of Peru. The study was carried out at the Fundo “La Genova” of the Regional Institute of Jungle Development in San Ramón (Chanchamayo), Junín Region, central jungle of Peru. For this, in an experimental coffee field of approximately one hectare, 184 random plants were taken in which both the incidence and severity of the disease were measured. A direct relationship was found between the incidence and severity of “coffee rust” in Peru, confirming the advisability of evaluating only the incidence, as it is a practical, cheap, simple and easy-to-learn method for technicians and farmers.Este trabajo se realizó con el objetivo de determinar la relación entre la incidencia y la severidad de la roya del café (Hemileia vastatrix) en la selva central del Perú. El estudio se realizó en el Fundo “La Génova” del Instituto Regional de Desarrollo de Selva en San Ramón (Chanchamayo), Región Junín, selva central del Perú. Para ello, en un campo experimental de café, de aproximadamente una hectárea, se tomaron 184 plantas al azar en las que se midieron tanto la incidencia como la severidad de la enfermedad. Se encontró una relación directa entre la incidencia y la severidad de la “roya del café” en el Perú, confirmando la conveniencia de evaluar solamente la incidencia, por ser un método práctico, barato, sencillo y de fácil aprendizaje para los técnicos y agricultores.
