Resumen
In a modern society like the one we currently live in, access to the Internet is essential. There is a large gap between rural and urban areas to access this service. Therefore, under this context, the present case study analyzes the access technologies that will help to reduce this gap.
A comparative technical and economic analysis of the access technologies through which internet services can be provided in rural areas of the Puebloviejo Canton was presented. To determine which technology is more feasible, an interview was conducted with several technical experts from telecommunications companies within the country. The airLink tool was also used to simulate the link. Finally, the implementation costs associated with each technology were determined.
After this, it is concluded that in rural areas with low density, guided media are not feasible since they involve high costs in their implementation and that it is more convenient to implement wireless networks since it implies savings in time and investment. After this, it is concluded that in rural areas with low density, guided media are not feasible since they involve high costs in their implementation and that it is more convenient to implement wireless networks since it implies savings in time and investment.
