The purpose of the present study was to develop an aerobic exercise program aimed at older adults in order to improve their level of joint movement capacity and thus their quality of life, since their functional capacity will also benefit.
The methodology used was a qualitative study with a non-experimental design with a cross-sectional and descriptive level, techniques such as the interview and the application of the Senior Fitness Test were used in two tests, the first called Back scratch test. behind the back), whose objective was to evaluate the flexibility of the upper body and the other called Chair-sit and reach-test (Test of sitting and reaching the extended foot). The sample consisted of 15 older adults, the same ones who were research subjects.
Among the results obtained, a poor assessment was reflected regarding the application of the test in the group of older adults, for which the proposal of the aerobic exercise program that improves joint mobility in this vulnerable group was chosen as a solution. El presente estudio tuvo como propósito elaborar un programa de ejercicios aeróbicos dirigidos a los adultos mayores con la finalidad de mejorar su nivel de capacidad de movimientos articulares y con ello su calidad de vida, ya que su capacidad funcional también se verá beneficiada.
La metodología utilizada fue un estudio de tipo cualitativo con diseño no experimental con corte transversal y de nivel descriptivo, se utilizaron técnicas como la entrevista y la aplicación del Senior Fitness Test en dos pruebas, la primera denominada Back scratch test (Test de alcanzar las manos tras la espalda), cuyo objetivo fue evaluar la flexibilidad del tren superior y la otra llamada Chair-sit and reach-test (Test de sentarse y alcanzar el pie extendido). La muestra consistió en 15 adultos mayores los mismos que fueron sujetos de investigación.
Dentro de los resultados obtenidos se reflejó una mala valoración con respecto a la aplicación del test en el grupo de adultos mayores por lo que se optó como solución la propuesta del programa de ejercicios aeróbicos que mejoren la movilidad articular en este grupo vulnerable.
