This case study has as its theme: Depression and its influence on the self-esteem of a 20-year-old adolescent from the city of Ambato; collecting necessary information through the use of techniques such as observation, interview, medical history and psychometric tests, in which according to the analysis, for the clinical case the most appropriate were the BDI Beck Depression Inventory test and the Rosenberg test. which resulted in depressive characteristics, low self-esteem, guilt, devaluation, among others. The diagnosis obtained according to the ICD10 criteria was: (F33.1). El diagnóstico obtenido según los criterios del CIE10 fue: (F33.1). Se intervino con varias técnicas psicoterapéuticas como Reestructuración cognitiva, momentos felices, yo del futuro, así como se recomendó la continuidad de la atención psicológica para ir valorando el proceso de mejoramiento de su estado emocional e ir suprimiendo episodios depresivos en el paciente.
