Resumen
Collaborative learning has been frequently applied. Several authors have exposed its advantages, through research based on surveys to teachers and students, but there are not many quantitative and correlational studies that have compared the academic performance obtained with the application of collaborative and traditional forms of learning. For this reason, an integrative review was carried out with the objective of determining, through the analysis of the results of quantitative research, if collaborative ways of learning contribute to greater academic performance compared to individual ones, and to identify the elements that lead to learning success on teaching practices with collaborative methods. The review followed the Ganong method. 243 documents were reviewed and 11 original articles that met the selection criteria were selected. That is, those who presented results of quantitative, correlational and comparative research, which measured academic performance through the scores obtained in the exams by the students who followed both forms of learning. The results showed superiority in academic performance due to collaborative learning in 90.9% of the studies. In addition, cognitive, procedural and attitudinal skills were developed that reinforced the quality of academic performance. It was concluded that the success of this type of learning depends on the adequate conformation of the teams, the preparation of preconditions, the correct design of the process, supported by information and communication technologies and active teaching methods, with the realization of experiences continuously, during semesters and courses.
