dc.descriptionThe purpose of this article is to communicate the results on digital skills and the use of virtual platforms in the teachers of the Luis Dueñas Educational Unit of the city of Portoviejo. The present investigation was carried out using a mixed approach, that is, qualitative and quantitative, the population was made up of 18 teachers and the rector of the entity studied, a Likert scale surveywas applied to the teachers and an interview was conducted with the rector through an open question questionnaire. Among the main findings, it was possible to verify that there is little training for teachers to acquire knowledge regarding digital skills, many of them resort to self-learning, but there are also teachers who remain resistant to change. The lack of digital resources is another finding that influences the lack of employment of digital skills. Itis concluded that teachers have not fullyacquired the appropriate digital skills for the correct management of digital educational platforms, so it is necessary to provide training to optimize educational performance through technology.en-US
dc.descriptionEl propósito de este artículo es comunicar los resultados sobre las competencias digitales y el uso de las plataformas virtuales en los docentes de la Unidad Educativa Luis Dueña de la ciudad de Portoviejo. La presente investigación se llevó a cabo mediante un enfoque mixto, es decir cualitativo y cuantitativo, la población estuvo conformada por 18 docentes y la rectora de entidad estudiada, a los docentes se les aplicó una encuesta en escala Likert y a la rectora una entrevista mediante un cuestionario de preguntas abiertas. Entre los principales hallazgos se pudo comprobar que hay escasa capacitación de los docentes para adquirir conocimientos referentes a las competencias digitales, muchos de ellos recurren al autoaprendizaje, pero también existe losdocentes que se mantienen resistentes al cambio. La falta de recursos digitales es otro delos hallazgosque influye en lafalta de empleo de las competencias digitales. Se concluye que los docentes no han adquirido en su totalidad las competencias digitales adecuadas para el correcto manejo de las plataformas digitales educativas, por lo que es necesario brindar capacitaciones para optimizar el desempeño educativo por medio de la tecnología.es-ES
