Resumen
The hepatitis B virus has affected the world population, causing one million deaths a year due to the various complications it presents. Thanks to the immunization programs created, the incidence of infections has decreased, however, it is still considered a serious public health problem. The objective of the research was to analyze the prevalence and risk factors of hepatitis B infections in adults. The research had a documentary design of descriptive and explanatory scope based on the collection of information in scientific databases in English and Spanish, search engines such as Google Scholar and PubMed, indexed journals such as Scielo, Scopus, Elsevier, Springer and Redalyc, web pages official websites, and other bibliographic sources. The results obtained determined that there is a higher prevalence in Sierra Leone with 21.7%, the most frequent risk factors are age, sex, a history of hepatitis B, drugs, perforations and anal sex. In addition, it was evidenced that the male population has a higher risk of suffering from hepatitis B. It was concluded that the prevalence of hepatitis B varies according to the country where the study is carried out, however, countries such as Sierra Leone, Togo, and Taiwan have a greater number of people infected, being age, sex, family history of hepatitis B and drugs the most frequent risk factors. El virus de la hepatitis B ha afectado a la población mundial causando al año un millón de muertes por las diversas complicaciones que presenta. Gracias a los programas de inmunización creados se ha disminuido la incidencia de infecciones, sin embargo, no deja de ser considerado como un grave problema de salud pública. El objetivo de la investigación fue analizar la prevalencia y factores de riesgo de infecciones por hepatitis B en adultos. La investigación tuvo un diseño documental de alcance descriptivo y explicativo basado en la recolección de la información en las bases de datos científicas en inglés y español, buscadores como Google Académico y PubMed, revistas indexadas como Scielo, Scopus, Elsevier, Springer y Redalyc, paginas oficiales, sitios web y demás fuentes bibliográficas. Los resultados obtenidos determinaron que existe mayor prevalencia en Sierra Leona con el 21,7%, los factores de riesgos más frecuentes es la edad, sexo, antecedentes por hepatitis B, drogas, perforaciones y sexo anal. Además se evidenció que la población masculina tiene mayor riesgo de padecer hepatitis B. Se concluyó que la prevalencia de hepatitis B varía de acuerdo al país donde se desarrolla el estudio, sin embargo, países como Sierra Leona, Togo, Taiwán tiene mayor número de personas infectadas, siendo la edad, sexo, antecedentes familiares por hepatitis B y drogas los factores de riesgo más frecuentes.
