This article reviews the relation between photographic images and literary text within Prosa del Observatorio (1972) by Julio Cortazar. Firstly it considers the relations between photography and other artistic expression in the 19th and 20th centuries. Relating the literature produced by Cortázar and the surrealitic production of André Breton with the modern conception of art shared by both of them, the relation of photographies and text in Prosa Del Observatorio is considered as an artistic technique to increase the complexity of literaty pieces.
