Resumen
To know the epidemiological, clinical and imaging characteristics of patients with carotid atherothrombotic and atheroembolic ischemic cerebrovascular disease. Material and Methods: A descriptive and transversal study was carried out; the sample consisted of 63 patients with the medical report, who were assessed the frequency of epidemiological, clinical and imaging characteristics of the study. Results: Atherothrombotic and carotid atheroembolic ischemic cerebrovascular disease predominated in the age group of 60 to 69 years (33.33%), in the male gender (57.14%) and most were hypertensive (80.92%). Symptoms were most frequently initiated at night time (63.49%), with a predominance of admission to the hospital with favelo-rectal hemiparesis (80.95%) and with a moderate deficit (52.38%). In the imaging findings a predominance of atheromas in the internal carotid arteries (96.83%) was found; Meanwhile, cerebral infarction, in the left cerebral hemisphere (42.86%). Conclusions: Atherothrombotic and carotid atheroembolic ischemic cerebrovascular disease predominates in the male gender, in patients aged 60 to 69 years and associated with higher frequency of arterial hypertension; manifesting mainly as faciobraquiocrural hemiparesis, at a night time and entering the hospital, mostly with moderate deficit. In the imaging findings; atheromatous plaque predominates in the internal carotid arteries and cerebral infarction in the left cerebral hemisphere Conocer las características epidemiológicas, clínicas e imagenológicas de los pacientes con enfermedad vascular cerebral isquémica aterotrombótica y ateroembólica carotídea.
