Influencia de diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en las características clínicas y mortalidad intrahospitalaria de pacientes hospitalizados por insuficiencia cardiaca aguda en el Hospital Nacional Carlos Alberto Seguín Escobedo

Resumen
La diabetes mellitus tipo 2 es una enfermedad crónica no transmisible que representa un problema
de salud pública a nivel mundial. La enfermedad cardiovascular continúa siendo la principal causa
de mortalidad en dicha población, siendo considerada la insuficiencia cardiaca con o sin antecedente
de enfermedad ateroesclerótica, como probablemente la más importante. La insuficiencia cardiaca
es una de las principales causas de hospitalización en el mundo occidental, representando una
enfermedad de mal pronóstico que afecta la calidad de vida de quienes la padecen, más aún cuando
se encuentra en el contexto de un paciente con diabetes mellitus tipo 2.
El objetivo de este estudio es determinar la influencia de la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en las
características clínicas y mortalidad intrahospitalaria de pacientes hospitalizados por insuficiencia
cardiaca aguda en el Servicio de Cardiología del Hospital Nacional Carlos Alberto Seguín Escobedo
durante el periodo de enero a diciembre del 2019. Se trata de un estudio observacional, retrospectivo,
transversal, de nivel descriptivo.
Para el análisis estadístico, se utilizará el programa SPSS (versión 26.0). Las variables
cuantitativas se describirán mediante medias y desviación estándar; y las cualitativas mediante
frecuencias absolutas y porcentajes. Para comparar las características clínicas y la mortalidad
intrahospitalaria entre pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 y pacientes sin diabetes
hospitalizados por insuficiencia cardiaca descompensada, se utilizarán la prueba de t de student
para muestras independientes para la comparación de variables cuantitativas, y la prueba de la chi
cuadrado (x2) o el test exacto de Fisher para la comparación de las variables cualitativas. Se
considerarán significativos valores de p < 0.05.
La principal motivación para este estudio es identificar las características clínicas propias de los
pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 hospitalizados por insuficiencia cardiaca aguda, los factores
que sean modificables nos permitirán realizar un plan preventivo-promocional que nos ayude a
mejorar su pronóstico.
