La presente investigación determinó la relación entre la concentración de arsénico en orina y los niveles de hemoglobina en niños menores de 5 años en los distritos de Tarata y Ticaco, mediante el análisis toxicológico de arsénico urinario y la determinación fotométrica de hemoglobina en sangre. Se trabajó con 125 y 25 muestras de orina y sangre de niños menores de 5 años de los distritos de Tarata y Ticaco respectivamente. El estudio fue relacional, observacional, prospectivo y transversal. La concentración de arsénico en orina se determinó por inyección de flujo en espectrofotometría de absorción atómica (FIAS-100) realizado en el laboratorio Blufstein. El 94,40 % de las muestras de la población estudiada de Tarata superó el valor referencial de toxicidad (VRT) en comparación a Ticaco donde el 5,60 % de las muestras superaron el VRT instituido por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS). El promedio de concentración de arsénico en orina del distrito de Tarata superó 2,83 veces el VRT (56,6792 μg As/g creatinina vs 20 μg As/g creatinina), mientras que Ticaco se encuentra por debajo del VRT (17,3281 μg/g creatinina vs 20 μg/g creatinina). El 76,80 % de la población del distrito de Tarata presenta hemoglobina normal, el 20,00 % anemia leve y el 3,20 % anemia moderada, mientras que Ticaco presenta un 84,00 % de hemoglobina normal, un 12,00 % de anemia leve y un 4,00% de anemia moderada. Existe correlación estadísticamente significativa entre la concentración de arsénico en orina y los niveles de hemoglobina en niños menores de 5 años del distrito de Tarata, con un coeficiente de correlación de -0,351.
