INTRODUCCION: Existen múltiples dispositivos para manejo de la vía aérea entre ellos el video endoscopio laríngeo de 70° (VEL 70°) que proporciona excelente visión glótica, aunque no necesariamente significa facilidad en pasar el tubo endotraqueal (TET). El objetivo de la investigación es identificar entre dos formas de angulación del estilete en el TET, en 90° vs. Épsilon cual es eficiente para lograr la intubación con VEL 70°. METODOS: 30 adultos que requerían anestesia general fueron aleatoriamente asignados a dos grupos, forma del TET 90°, vs. Épsilon e intubados por operadores con o sin experiencia en VEL 70°. Se obtuvo intubaciones exitosas y fallidas, tiempo de intubación y puntaje en la escala de intubación dificultosa. RESULTADOS: Existe diferencia estadísticamente significativa en cuanto a la forma del TET y el tiempo de intubación obteniéndose mayores tiempos para la forma Épsilon (tiempo de intubación 100,73 ± 41,63 seg) vs. la forma 90° (tiempo de intubación 70,5 ± 28,67seg ), en cuanto el porcentaje de intubaciones exitosas 57% grupo de 90° vs. 43% en Épsilon, fueron estadísticamente similares. Al analizar la experiencia del operador, se comprueba la facilidad de uso del dispositivo. Para la escala de intubación dificultosa en el grupo 90° solo hubo 2 pacientes (13,33%) con puntaje mayor a 3 pts. vs. 8 pacientes (53,33%) forma Épsilon. DISCUSIÓN: Con el uso del VEL 70° se demuestra mayor facilidad en lograr la intubación con la configuración del TET en 90° con respecto a la forma Épsilon demostrado en 30% menor tiempo de intubación.
