This paper presents the results of the investigation on the application of polyethylene of tereftalato (PET) from packaging, as filter media for domestic wastewater treatment. It was constructed an experimental unit trickling filter, on which the PET filter media of was placed. The results were as follows: Removal of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5) of more than 90% and removal Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) greater than 90%.Esta investigación es la aplicación de material PET proveniente de envases de aguas gaseosas, como material filtrante para el tratamiento de aguas residuales domésticas. Para tal fin se construyó una unidad experimental consistente en un filtro percolador de tres etapas, donde se colocó el medio filtrante de PET, los resultados obtenidos fueron los siguientes: Remoción de la Demanda Bioquímica de Oxigeno (DBO5) superior al 90 % y remoción de la Demanda Química de Oxigeno (DQO) superior al 90 %.
