| dc.description | Since the nineteenth century, institutions created by the Guatemalan State executed the monumental work of raising the official map of the republic. This is an indispensable instrument for the elaboration of development policies, knowledge of different themes, for schooling, and a territorial symbol of identity and belonging. Having the map implied a difficult and long process of fieldwork, documentary research, technical, political and diplomatic efforts to reach consensus, have legal certainty over land and assessment of human and natural resources. | en-US |
| dc.description | Desde el siglo XIX instituciones creadas por el Estado de Guatemala ejecutaron el monumental trabajo de levantar el mapa oficial de la república. Este es un instrumento imprescindible para la elaboración de políticas de desarrollo, de conocimientos de distinta temática, de enseñanza escolar y un símbolo territorial de identidad y pertenencia. Contar con él implicó un difícil y largo proceso de trabajo de campo, de investigaciones documentales, esfuerzo técnico y gestiones políticas y diplomáticas para alcanzar consenso, tener certeza jurídica sobre la tierra y valoración de los recursos humanos y naturales. | es-ES |
