Abstract The responsibility of the formation of professional skill in graphic expression in engineering students merits the use of mechanisms and forms of expression that constitute a fundamental tool of support to the interdisciplinary technological team with which they act particularly in the fields of construction. However, the changes occurred in the university environment with the application of the new study plans that were gradually implemented, the elimination of subject, the reduction of teaching hours, and the introduction of the new technologies of informatics and communications, as well as the non-incorporation in the teaching literature of the new Cuban norms approved and specificity of the existing basics bibliographies, have caused difficulties in the interpretation, representation, and solution of graphics problem. For this reason, the program of the subject Graphic Representation of the Civil Engineering career is elaborated, to provide the knowledge system for the student to form habits and skills developing the forms of the logical thinking and spatial imagination to be able to develop and manage projects in the exercise of their profession.La responsabilidad de la formación de habilidades profesionales en expresión gráfica en los estudiantes de ingeniería, amerita que se empleen mecanismos y formas de expresión que constituyan una herramienta fundamental de apoyo a los equipos tecnológicos interdisciplinarios con los que actúan particularmente en el campo de las construcciones. Sin embargo, los cambios ocurridos en el entorno universitario con la aplicación de nuevos planes de estudio que fueron implementándose gradualmente, la eliminación de asignaturas, la reducción de las horas lectivas y la introducción de las nuevas tecnologías de la informática y las comunicaciones, así como la no incorporación en la literatura docente de las nuevas normas cubanas aprobadas y la especificidad de las bibliografías básicas existentes, han provocado dificultades en la interpretación, representación y solución de problemas gráficos. Es por ello que se elabora el programa de la asignatura Representación Gráfica de la carrera Ingeniería Civil, que permita brindar el sistema de conocimientos para que el estudiante forme hábitos y habilidades desarrollando las formas del pensamiento lógico y la imaginación espacial con el fin de que sean capaces de elaborar y dirigir proyectos en el ejercicio de su profesión.
