| dc.description | The present article analyses the student desertion of the Rural Sustainable Development major, developed in the program of Universidad del Campo (Rural University Program), in the municipality of El Tuma, La Dalia, conducted by UNAN-FAREM-Matagalpa, during the period 2012-2016. During the first two years, this project was supported by the European Union, through the project ALFA III. UNAN-Managua took over the project in 2014, through its institutional budget. The student desertion is a phenomenon present in all education levels of the country, and in Latin America. The objective of this study is to analyze the causes of the student desertion of this major. Visits to students that dropped out were made, and they were administered an instrument to identify the causes of their desertion. This article is part of a study conducted from the Universidad del Campo program, within a doctoral research. The main causes of the desertion are: level of enrollment to education (after having passed ninth and tenth grade), economic factors, and employment situation and/or family responsibilities.Keywords: Student Desertion, Rural Education, Universidad en el Campo. | en-US |
| dc.description | El actual artículo analiza el abandono estudiantil de la carrera de Desarrollo Rural Sostenible, desarrollada en el Programa Universidad en el Campo, en el municipio del Tuma La Dalia, por la UNAN FAREM Matagalpa, en el periodo 2012 – 2016. Por los dos primeros años este proyecto fue apoyado por la Unión Europea, a través del Proyecto ALFA III, desde el año 2014 la UNAN Managua, lo ha asumido a través del presupuesto institucional. El abandono estudiantil es un fenómeno presente en todos los niveles de educativos del país y se manifiesta a nivel latinoamericano. El objetivo de este estudio es analizar las causas del abandono dentro de esta carrera. Se realizó visita a los estudiantes que abandonaron y se les aplicó un instrumento para conocer las causas de su abandono. Este articulo forma parte de un estudio que se le hace a la carrera y al programa Universidad en el Campo, dentro de una investigación doctoral. Los principales causas del abandono son: el nivel de ingreso a la formación (después de haber aprobado noveno y decimo grado), ingresos económicos bajas de los estudiantes, por empleos marginales y/o tener responsabilidades familiares.
