This research work is developed inside the Infirmary Program of the faculty of health science of Universidad Libre, Seccional Pereira - Sede Belmonte. The target population is composed by two second semester of infirmary groups attending the physiology course with its corresponding laboratory. Is in this laboratory where the following question is answered: How does the active learning influence the
knowledege in the student of the physiology laboratory, using workshops in the social and cultural environment as strategy? Research is spent in the classroom and outside it, by developing the corresponding laboratory topics (Some of the human systems) and lately the application oaf a set of guides which will be taken to the environment od the student, to be developed with people close to the student. In a subsequent meeting there will be feedback on the topics with multimedia aids made by the students to adjust them and correcct them. One Focal Group is done among the research target students as they are enrrolled on their sixth semester to hear their assesment regarding the experience in the second semester laboratory and its effect on the following academic terms. It had a control group and an experimental group so that students in the first group did not engage in workshops and students in the experimental group applied them in their inmediate social, workshops about strengthening the procedures that must be made from the clinic to improve patient management. By the technique of analysis of variance with the Kruskal and Wallis, sought to know whether students who support their learning with the completion of the labs in physiology in their immediate social, iutperform those who do not. The work also has a quialitative analysis, with conducting a focus group with students who participated in the work, theis assessment of the
experience at the laboratory of physiology. The results show that the quantitative approach the final mark of students who applied the guidelines in their immediate social environment have an average of 3.35 with a standard deviation of 0.60, compared with an average of 2.45 and standard deviation of 0.83 for students who do not applied; the nervous, cardiovascular, renal
and gastrointestinal mean grades of students who applied the guidelines in their inmediate social environment is higher than of those who did not apply. In the qualitative approach found that the learning done with this methodology was categorized by a focus group as active, meaningful, motivating, provide security,
builds confidence, allows the social and emotional interaction and allows feedback.
