A major event during the turbulent years from 1940 to 1950 was the creation of the Democratic Action Party, led by the prominent lawyer Alberto Martén Chavarría, in the context of the 1948 Civil War andthe 1949 National Constituent Assembly. This milestone also included the contribution of the Social Democratic Party, resulting from the coalition of the Democratic Action Party and the Center for the Study of National Problems, under the leadership of Rodrigo Facio Brenes.En la convulsos años de 1940 a 1950, fue un hecho importante la conformación del Partido Acción Demócrata, jefeado por el abogado Alberto Martén Chavarría, en el contexto de la guerra civil de 1948 y de la Asamblea Nacional Constituyente de 1949; y, el aporte del Partido Social Demócrata, resultado de la fusión del Partido Acción Demócrata y del Centro para el estudio de los problemas nacionales, bajo el liderazgo de Rodrigo Facio Brenes.
