| dc.description | The reaction against speculative Freemasonry started to appear a few years after its establishment in 1717. This hostility has had different degrees of harshness: from discredit, defamation, or taunt to the most bloodthirsty persecution during the fascist dictatorships. This attitude has also been expressed by minting anti-Masonic medals, which sometimes showed openly belligerent propagandist messages and, other times, mocking representations. At present, these rare pieces are highly prized by Masonic medals collectors. | en-US |
| dc.description | La reacción contra la masonería especulativa empezó a manifestarse pocos años después de su fundación en 1717. La hostilidad ha tenido distinto grado de dureza: desde el descrédito y la difamación, hasta la más sanguinaria persecución durante las dictaduras fascistas. Esta actitud también se ha expresado mediante la acuñación de medallas antimasónicas; en ocasiones portadoras de un mensaje propagandístico abiertamente beligerante y, en otras, recurriendo a representaciones burlescas. En la actualidad, estas escasas piezas son muy apreciadas por los coleccionistas de medallas masónicas. | es-ES |
