The objective of this research was to determine the productive specialization of the ten regions that make up the State of Michoacán: Lerma Chapala, Bajío, Cuitzeo, Oriente, Tepalcatepec, Purépecha, Pátzuaro-Zirahuén, Tierra Caliente, Sierra Costa and Infiernillo; by calculating the Regional Economic Specialization Index, using data from the employed population of the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of the Intercensal Survey 2015 of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). Seven of the ten regions that make up the State present a productive specialization either in the secondary or tertiary sector. The Cuitzeo region presented a specialization in the tertiary sector, being considered the most developed.El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar la especialización productiva de las diez regiones que integran el Estado de Michoacán: Lerma Chapala, Bajío, Cuitzeo, Oriente, Tepalcatepec, Purépecha, Pátzuaro-Zirahuén, Tierra Caliente, Sierra Costa e Infiernillo; mediante el cálculo  del Índice de Especialización Económica Regional, utilizando datos de la población ocupada de los sectores primario, secundario y terciario de la Encuesta Intercensal 2015 del Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI). Siete de las diez regiones que integran el Estado presentan una especialización productiva ya sea en el sector secundario o terciario. La región Cuitzeo presentó una especialización en el sector terciario, siendo considerada como la más desarrollada.
