| dc.description | Mexico is constitutionally recognized as a pluricultural nation originally sustained in its indigenous peoples, with the right to "preserve and enrich their languages, knowledge and all the elements that constitute their culture and identity" (paragraph IV, article 2 of the Mexican Constitution). This means that the Mexican state fully recognizes the existence of a diversity of cultural manifestations present in Mexican territory, including languages, and at the same time, implicitly a series of commitments by the Mexican state to promote their respect and recognition. | |
