An Integrated West Coast Science DMZ for Data-Intensive Research.-
PhD. Greg Hidley, CaliT2 Technology Director, UCSD California Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technology/Qualcomm Institute Focus: Information Technology | Presentatión This presentation summarizes efforts at UCSD and many others institutions to achieve high bandwidth connectivity and science domain specific access across laboratories at research institutes on the West Coast (and beyond). The proposed DMZ's present both exposures to and opportunities for big data collaborations. The longer term vision is the creation of a West Coast "Big Data Freeway" connection by CENIC and Pacific Wave to Internet2 and GLIF, the use of light-paths to connect big data generators and consumers creating a big data plane integrated with high performance global networks.
