The purpose of this work was the synthesis of luminescent pigments based on the solid solution of Gd(1-X)EuXAlO3, (x= 0.25, 0.5, 0.8), via gel combustion, without mineralizers; in one stage, from metal oxides, nitric acid and urea at 500°C and crystallization at 1050°C. The characterization by powder X-ray diffraction and infrared absorption spectroscopy indicated the obtaining of the phase with orthorhombic perovskite structure, confirming the formation of the solid solution, with a fine particle size of 19 -22 nm. The pigments showed stability at the temperature of this study at 1000°C. The visual color observed varied from white to pale pink, depending on the increase in the amount of Eu3+. The luminescence analyzed with a UV-Vis light lamp, at 254 and 365 nm, went from bright orange to violet. The pigments showed stability up to 1000°C, applied on unglazed ceramic.
