| dc.description | Several chronicles on the discovery and exploration of America highlight two aspects: the natural wealth of the region and the kindness of the Indians; nevertheless, few authors seem to be interested in studying how indigenous women were perceived. It is therefore that an analysis is here made of some images linking women of the Caribbean to cannibalism and infanticide—made so as to justify the eradication of these practices even if there was not clear and irrefutable evidence supporting their existence. | |

Sin embargo, pocos autores muestran interés en estudiar la visión que se tuvo sobre las indígenas. Por ello, se analizan algunas imágenes que vincularon a las mujeres del Caribe con prácticas de canibalismo e infanticidio, y que fueron producidas para normalizar su extirpación, incluso si no se contaba con una evidencia clara e irrefutable de tales actos. | |
