The state of Coahuila has a high richness of bird species due to its different ecosystems in which birds can carry out their activities, such as feeding and reproduction. The present work compares the diversity of the ornithofauna of the semi-desert grassland community with xerophytic scrub, likewise in the summer, autumn and winter seasons, the spatial variation of the food groups in the southeast of Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico is also analyzed. The study was carried out in the June-November 2020 and January-March 2021 seasons. During this season, the 1.5 km linear transect method was used for bird sampling. 1,767 individuals that are part of 10 orders, 23 families, 53 genera and 60 species were registered. The semi-desert grassland has the highest species richness. The white-browed sparrow (Spizella passerina) was dominant in both types of vegetation. On the other hand, the winter season presented higher species richness, likewise in the calculation of the exponential of the Shannon-Wiener index it is q1= 32.071 and the inverse of the Simpson index q2= 25.741 compared to the other seasons. Greater turnover of species was recorded in the summer-autumn combination. Regarding the functional groups, the best represented was insectivorous with 36 species, 13 granivorous, 7 carnivorous, 3 omnivorous and 1 scavenger. In the winter season, a greater diversity of birds was recorded, with representation of migratory species, which highlights the importance of the study area in the migratory route of birds as a perching and feeding area, these conditions are favorable for the conservation of the avifauna at the regional level."
