Semi-empirical model of a stellar envelope in the presence of a magnetic field

Using the UV observations obtained simultaneously with ground base telescopes and with IUE we have computed a model for the envelope of V923 Aql under the hypothesis of the presence of a magnetic field. Due to the influence of it, the plasma co-rotates with the star increasing its azimutal velocity with the radius, until a region where the processes become intense and the mechanical energy, as well as the magnetic one, is transformed into heat. The temperature increase may justify the formation of strong lines of C IV and Si IV. The redistribution of particles due to the magnetic field would explain the formation of many metallic lines of atomic species such as Fe II, Ni II, Cr II, etc. Asociación Argentina de Astronomía
