| dc.description | El siglo XX fue, entre otras cientos de características, el siglo de los genocidios. Sin embargo, estos actos de eliminación masiva no son resultado ni de estallidos populares espontáneos ni de rencores étnicos ancestrales; son, por el contrario, resultado de procesos más complejos y de decisiones que siempre contemplan el accionar estatal. Este artículo intenta dar cuenta cómo durante el proceso de la Guerra Civil Ruandesa iniciado con la invasión del Frente Patriótico Ruandés, se gestaron las condiciones que luego permitirían la implementación del genocidio y determinarían su grado de eficacia, sobre la base de relaciones históricas conflictivas entre sus grupos poblacionales. | |

However, these acts of mass elimination are neither the result of spontaneous popular outburst nor ethnic ancestral hates. They are result of more complex processes that always contemplate state action. This article points out how during the Rwanda Civil War began with the Rwandan Patriotic Front invasion, was born the conditions that then allow the implementation of the future genocide and will determinate its degree of effectiveness. All this facts, had base in conflicting historical relations between ethnic groups in Rwanda. | |
