Resumen
The effect of organic acid supplementation with cinnamaldehyde on the development of pre-pups of shrimp Penaeus vannamei was evaluated. A commercial product (Amaril®) was used, consisting of orthophosphoric acid, cinnamic aldehyde (cinnamaldehyde) and calcium diformate. Three diets were dosed in triplicate: T1 (commercial balanced feed 35% PC), T2 (PC and 3 g/Kg of organic acid and cinnamaldehyde mixture, AOC), and T3 (PC and 6 g/Kg AOC). The shrimp were placed in 1ton tanks and 300L of water, under controlled conditions (constant aeration, temperature of ±25°C, pH 7.5 and salinity of 34 UPS) and fed for 35 days. There were no significant differences between the treatments (p>0.01), in relation to the average weight. The greatest weight was found at the end of the trial, in T2 (0.046 ± 0.008 g) (PC-3g/kg COC), followed by T3 (0.039 ± 0.002g) and T1 (0.036 ± 0.004 g). The greatest survival was achieved in the first week at T2 (93%±0.66) and T3 (93%±1.43), gradually decreasing until the end of the experiment to 62%±1.75 and 56%±2.62 respectively. The highest total average was recorded in the T2 diet (79%±1.89), followed by T3 (75%±2.72); the lowest value was obtained at T1 (65%±2.26). It is suggested that the supplementation of the diet with crude protein (35%) and 3g/kg of organic acids and cinnamaldehyde, can be used as an alternative to promote growth and improve survival in P. vannamei larvae.
