This book presents the historic development of the former premises of the National University of San Marcos, currently the headquarters of the Cultural Center of San Marcos. It points out the three institutional changes since its foundation at the beginning of the 17th century: first, as the seat of the Novitiate or House of Probate of the Order of Saint Ignatius of Loyola; second, as headquarters of the Real Convictorio de San Carlos; and third, as headquarters of the National University of San Marcos, and, finally, it briefly indicates what corresponds to the University City, located in the av. Venezuela. Describes the situation, transformations, architectural plan and aesthetic qualities of the painting of the Chapel of Our Lady of Loreto, located inside the Cultural Center of San Marcos. Makes a description and interpretation of the paintings located on the ceiling of the Chapel.Presenta el desarrollo histórico del local anterior de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, actualmente sede del Centro Cultural de San Marcos.
