Occurrence of ferroelectricity in epitaxial BiMnO3 thin films

Polaskia chende is a columnar cactus endemic to central Mexico, where it is managed via silviculture due to its edible fruits. We aimed to analyse the consequences of management on population genetics and compared information from different markers to analyse ecological and evolutionary aspects of incipient domestication and genetic resources conservation. Eight populations were evaluated using seven microsatellite loci and 15 allozyme loci. SSR identified higher genetic diversity (A = 5.6, p = 98.2, HE = 0.651) than allozymes (Ar = 2.6, p = 93.3, HE = 0.479). Both marker types identified that HO and HE were higher in wild populations (SSR: HO = 0.730; HE = 0.677; allozymes: HO = 0.432; HE = 0.481) than in the managed ones (SSR: HO = 0.652; HE = 0.616; allozymes: HO = 0.417; HE = 0.474), but differences were significant only analysed by SSR. SSR identified 3 % of genetic structure between wild and managed populations and 10 % among populations (?{symbol}PR = 0.099), a much lower estimate than with allozymes (?{symbol}PR = 0.208). The results suggest that management has had only slight consequences on the population genetics of P. chende. Artificial selection operates at low intensity and life history traits of the species, particularly the self-incompatible breeding system, pollination by bees and seed dispersion by birds, bats and humans favour high genetic diversity and gene flow. SSR detect finer genetic variation than allozymes, but both marker types provide similar patterns of information useful for analysing population genetics. Analytical solutions are obtained in two cases: for the one-dimensional model (scalar electrodynamics) and for the three-dimensional (3D) cavity. In the first example, we have a strong intermode interaction; nonetheless, an explicit solution in terms of the complete elliptic integrals is found. The rate of photon generation in the principal mode rapidly assumes a constant value proportional to the product of the frequency by the dimensionless amplitude of oscillations. The total amount of photons created in all the modes increases in time as t2. In the second example, the eigenmode spectrum is nonequidistant and the problem can be reduced to the problem of a single harmonic oscillator with a time-dependent frequency. The number of photons in the resonant mode of a 3D cavity increases exponentially in time and the field appears in a highly squeezed state with a strongly oscillating photon distribution function. The problem of detecting the created photons is analyzed in the framework of a simplified model, when a detector is replaced with a harmonic oscillator. It turns out that the presence of the detector changes the picture drastically: both the detector and the field mode occur in highly mixed (nonthermal) quantum states, with identical nonoscillating photon distribution functions. The detector gains exactly half of the total energy of excitation inside the cavity. The consolidation of these areas as touristic destinations is due to the interaction of three imaginaries: 1) the political and institutional momentum; 2) supply generated by the tourist service providers; and, 3) satisfaction of the demand of tourists. Thereby, the coastal area is urbanized for tourism excluding the resident population from its use. To review the occupation of coastal territories in the Mexican case five tourist cities were assessed; two corresponding to traditional destinations and the others to Integrally Planned Center -IPC-. Subsequently, detailing the process in Puerto Vallarta, where is this particular process of spatial structuring. The findings suggest that the occupation in the coastline of Mexican tourist destinations has been done without assessing the richness of the natural environment or the cultural context, generating significant spatial and social implications. This pathogen can produce serious human illness, including bloody diarrhea and hemolytic uremic syndrome. The aim of the current study was to characterize E. coli isolates (mainly VTEC strains) belonging to several serotypes in samples from cattle carcasses and feces of three municipal slaughter plants from Mexico State. The genetic diversity and molecular relatedness among the isolates was evaluated with multiple-locus variable-number tandem repeat analysis (MLVA). To our knowledge, and with the exception of E. coli O157:H7, this is the first time that serotypes analyzed here have been subtyped by MLVA in Mexico. MLVA typing grouped the 37 strains from this study into 30 distinct genotypes, 26 of which were unique. These findings indicate that cattle carcasses and feces from slaughter plants in Mexico are a source of VTEC that are genetically diverse in terms of serotypes and virulence profiles. The presence of these pathogens in carcasses indicates the high probability of the spread of VTEC strains during slaughter and processing. X-ray diffraction measurements were used to analyse the crystal structure of the thin films, revealing epitaxial growth for BiMnO3 films with their (1 1 1) and (2 2 2) planes parallel to the (0 0 1) and (0 0 2) planes of the SrTiO3 substrate. AFM measurements were performed to investigate surface morphology; quantitative values of roughness and grain size are in the range between 300 and 500 nm. Ferroelectric characterization was conducted at low temperatures and at 300 K. Hysteresis loops (polarization vs. voltage) were obtained, showing saturation polarizations of 40 nC / cm2, and 25 nC / cm2 at 105, 122, and 300 K. Resistance vs. temperature measurements were performed, which indicated this to be very robust insulating material. " 2008.
