Resumen
In the region of the Xicalango Península, in Campeche, México, there is archaeological evidence as to the existence of a series of prehispanic settlement inhabited by a maya goup. Economically, their culture was based on fishing, hunting, gathering, as well as on the product exchange that took place at Xicalango. The sites which have been located were communicated by means of pathways or "jillones" in the swamp itself, or by the routes of rivers and lakes. The construction system used was based on the mixture of clay and large oyster shells; with such material this group raised large platforms for their buildings.
