Abstract: “Mirrors for princes” are a literary genre designed to kings and to the instruction of future kings. The present article aims to present, in a general and introductory manner, the ideals produced by these “mirrors” in the Middle Ages, especially in the 13th century, period of its prospering.Resumo: Os “Espelhos de Príncipes” são um gênero literário destinado aos reis e ao ensino dos futuros reis. O presente artigo visa apresentar, de modo geral e introdutório, o ideário produzido por esses “espelhos” no medievo, com ênfase no século XIII, período de sua florescência.
