Abstract
I examine here some aspects of the translation of the body, to the scene and at the theatre of William Shakespeare. I work on some examples that will give, I hope, an idea of the complexity and variety of issues, of situations and images to which this work is associated.

Especialista em Shakespeare, membro do Centro de Estudos e Pesquisas Isabelinas da Universidade Paul-Valéry, em Montpellier, e escreveu diversos artigos sobre o teatro de Shakespeare, as mentalidades e o folclore da Inglaterra isabelina.
FRANÇOIS LAROQUE is Professor of English literature at the University of Paris III. Specialist in Shakespeare, is a member of the Centre for Elizabethan Studies and Research at the Paul-Valéry University in Montpellier, and wrote several articles on the Shakespeare Theatre, mentalities and folklore of Elizabethan era.
