A literatura dramática do Teatro Experimental do Negro: entre a crítica e a história

Abstract

The present work aims at diachronically analyze the ideological bases of the critical fortune of the Black Experimental Theater. In this sense, the study aims at identify and debate both the political-social visions and the artistic ideas present in the cultural journalism that focused on the Black Experimental Theater. For that, it was necessary to carry out a systematic survey of the journalistic material produced between the first and last performances of the group, in 1944 and 1957 respectively. The research in different archives and collections comprised an important dimension of the research, because it is in this context that the interrelationships between theatrical criticism, seen as a reflexive form of recording, the formation of a cultural memory and the construction of a scenic-dramatic historiography are debated. In this way, the aesthetic-social tensions that interfere, sometimes in the exclusion, sometimes in the inclusion of certain subjects in the historical narrative of the so-called modern Brazilian theater are emphasized.
