Resumen
Periodontal disease and its implications, such as severe loss of bone support in more
advanced cases, lead to multiple teeth loss causing discomfort and loss of
masticatory function and aesthetics. Among the measures taken to the
reestablishment of a correct function and occlusion there are methods and
biomechanical principles which aim the union (splint) of the remaining teeth as a
method to be followed to achieve success on fixed prosthesis. After a proper
periodontal treatment and disposal of etiological factors therapeutic a choice can be
done as a prosthetic rehabilitation using the remaining elements such as columns,
aiming to recover the function in a grounded way of broad concepts and
biomechanical principles, so that the supported reduced but healthy teeth can
respond positively to fixed prothesis
