This study aims to verify the possibility of building on the concepts of radioactivity by high school students in a State School of Minas Gerais, from their own prior knowledge and the application possibilities in the building process of their knowledge at school environment in Physics teaching. Physics teaching at high school using the method of action research based on meaningful learning theory of Ausubel, allows to expect that it is possible to foster meaningful learning of students on concepts of radioactivity through problem situations. This methodology aims to make possible for students to construct radioactivity concept from their prior knowledge. It was possible to relate prior knowledge and new concepts learned. It was also possible to realize how this relationship was important for the construction of a meaningful learning for these students.
