Resumen
The use of BIM applied to energy efficiency analysis represents a great potential. It allows uploading a digital model with a variety of relevant information about energy consumption, life cycle and building management. Used by many AECO professionals, Autodesk Revit® is a full scope BIM software that provides tools for energy efficiency analysis. This study aims to identify and evaluate possibilities and limitations of Revit® to use those analysis. The Autodesk® tools available for this purpose currently have different proposals, requiring different technical qualification levels from the professional and modeling details. Current tools: Systems analysis; Lighting and Solar commands/Plug-in; Green Building Studio® and, finally, Insight®, which the functionalities, potentialities and limitations were analyzed in this research. The methodology used was an exploratory study of the tool and the results obtained from five files based on Case 600, ASHRAE Standard 140. The models were produced in Autodesk Revit® 2022 from parameters available in the software and materials created based on ASHRAE. The results were empirically grouped to compare the data obtained from the five processed files. It was concluded that Insight® has the potential to be used by unspecialized professionals in energy efficiency simulation. The tool presents relevant results related to impacts of design decisions, but not very precise or detailed, being, therefore, quite suitable to find an average energy consumption. In addition, it is possible to notice that the way to analyze which elements are processed, but the materials are determined as "Schematic Types", in other words, without precise parameters of families and thermal properties of materials, generate satisfactory results.
