The present work shows a possibility to teach the content "Solutions" to students of a technical course in chemistry integrated to high school in a broader and interdisciplinary way. The CTS approach was used to develop a teaching sequence for teaching “Solutions” that was based on the controversial topic - Mining. The theme dialogues with the students' reality, as they are inserted in a school in the state of Minas Gerais close to the region affected by the rupture of Mining tailings dams. In addition, the theme allows an interdisciplinary approach more appropriate to technical courses integrated to high school. It was noticed a great interest and participation of the students during the application of the teaching sequence and a learning of the contents related to the themes. The students were able to develop and work on critical argumentation, decision making and the possibilities for active participation in society.
