This work presents a research to think how the participation and the representation are manifest in the Municipal Board of Education of Guanambi-Ba. Developing by questions about democracy in Brazil and how it is developing from the participatory institutions spread around the country. It has contributed significantly to the execution and implementation of pubic policies that they reach the consistent and appropriate form the Brazilian citizens. The goal of it was find out how the processes of participation and representation in Municipal Board of Education of Guanambi. Then, it was developed a field with a qualitative approach, whose instruments were:
semistructured interview and informal conversations with representatives (councilors) and represented (teachers, students, and teachers in higher education, municipal directors, executive units) as well as visits to schools to interview and talk with
teachers and principals about the performance of the board of education, and an interview with the executive secretary of the board. Results indicate that the Board of Education is a diversified and participatory institution, that get to involve various segments of civil society, whit plurality of ideas, of commitment and knowledge among member, most of the case, people are extremely involved with the education of the municipality How bigger the trainnig and experience in education, they are more committed. It was evident also that their constituents feel the reality represented and they evaluated their participation a good. However, the own members realized that their participation and their representation need to be rethought and improved.
