Resumen
The exponential growth of information through information and communication technologies (ICTs) has promoted significant changes in the structure and functioning of organizations. In this context, Information Management (IM) and Knowledge Management (KM) initiatives emerge to contribute to the achievement of organizational objectives. The present work aims to analyze, through the scientific production on GI and GC, the temporal evolution of such initiatives, as well as their connections with the areas of computer science, engineering, medicine, social sciences, business, management, mathematics, accounting and other knowledge areas. The results, obtained through searches in the Scopus database, indicate that the scientific production on both GI and GC are mainly classified in “hard” areas, such as computer science, engineering, decision science and mathematics. However, the data also reveal significant volumes of publications classified in the areas of Social Sciences and Business, Management and Accounting.
