Resumen
Union Rugby can be divided into two codes according to World Rugby, the XV and the seven, with different game characteristics it is expected that the demands placed on the players will also be. The aim of the study is to find in the literature the differences in external and internal demands in the two codes. The study was conducted on the search platforms PubMED and Google Scholar. 511 studies were found, after the screening process, resulting in 21 articles for the making of the work. Differences in physical demands are observed in the total distance, with the XV showing greater distances. As for the speed covered per minute, the rugby seven has higher values. As for the distances covered at different intensities, it is seen that approximately 30% of the total distance in both codes is covered at low and medium speed. Sprints happen more often in the XV, but in the seven, the sprint distances are longer. The heart rate is highest in the seven, which in relation to time, presents values close to 85.5% of the maximum. The other biomarkers were not possible to be compared, since not all studies presented data for this purpose. Rugby codes differ in physical and physiological demands.
