Resumen
ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) corresponds to an organization's practices related to the environment, communities, employees and governance, which are closely related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The incorporation of ESG criteria during the development of mining projects is essential for business sustainability. The development perspective, initially focused on the technical-economic aspect, must be associated with the environmental and social attributes of its insertion area/region. The ESG criteria must be considered and incorporated from the initial phases of project development to influence the locational and technological trade-off studies, guiding the engineering development. Regarding the environmental aspects, specifically addressed in this work, the project must seek the use of technologies that favor reduction of the use of water and energy; minimizing the generation of emissions (solid, liquid, atmospheric and greenhouse gas); the incorporation of environmental variables in the block model of the mineralized body, with reflections on the resources and reserves, mining planning and mineral processing; adoption of appropriate and sufficient control measures to maintain environmental quality, in addition to implementing monitoring instruments and practices that allow evaluate the performance of its sustainability indicators.
