Resumen
This work is the result of a literature review, in which I sought to understand the light of existential phenomenology, whether family relationships impact the constitution of self-esteem and whether an experience of low self-esteem can contribute to someone seeking to build relationships with great emotional dependence, but empty of meaning. Through the research, it was possible to realize the importance of family relationships for the individual who comes into the world, since generally, our first affective experiences take place in our family structures. If these structures present themselves as an unwelcoming space, members, especially children, may develop a distorted perception of themselves and also of affective relationships, which can accompany them throughout life. Childhood is where the first weaknesses and also possibilities for strengthening self-esteem are planted, so there is an expectation that parents and caregivers help in the emotional education of children. Self-esteem is related to the quality that each person deals with what they perceive and know about themselves, as well as idealize what they should become. The more rigid and self-critical a person is, the worse their self-esteem tends to be. People with a negative perception of themselves tend to look to others for relief from their experiences of loneliness and anxiety.
