The objective of the present article is to investigate the performance and thermal comfort of a prototype house built at Fazenda Modelo, UFMG, located in the municipality of Pedro Leopoldo in Minas Gerais. It was built with mining waste blocks, in the bosom of research in favor of the use of waste and mitigation of its environmental impacts in order to generate economic, environmental and social benefits. The methodology is developed in two approaches: (1) thermal performance analysis using standard 15.575 (2013) and (2) thermal comfort analysis using ISO 7726 (2005). The analyzes serve as subsidies for the realization or not of adaptations of design and constructive for the improvement of the thermal comfort for buildings occupants. The prototype house presented a superior performance in the summer situation according to NBR 15575 (2013) and comfort conditions within the 90% acceptability according to the ISO 7726 adaptive index. Overall, the environments of the house were ventilated Adequate and pleasant thermal conditions, which is due to both the orientation of the building and the materials used in the wrappings. However, the kitchen and the west-south room were environments that, although conforming to the standard, could be worked to improve cross-ventilation. As to the insolation, it is observed that the correct orientation of the house and the width of the roof eaves were fundamental to the protection function.
