A efetividade do ultrassom terapêutico nas tendinopatias crônicas

Introduction: Chronic tendon injuries are common reasons why people seek health professionals, especially in primary care sectors. These patients may have improved with rest and changes in routine activities, but often require extra care to return to activities free from pain. Many resources are used for conservative treatment of chronic tendinopathy, such as therapeutic ultrasound, common in the clinical setting. Objective: To conduct a review to investigate the effect of therapeutic ultrasound in chronic tendinopathy. Materials and Methods: A literature research was performed with the MedLine, PEDro, Lilacs and SciELO. Experimental studies carried out in animals and humans, without data limit, were included in this research. Results: Seven studies investigated the effects of therapeutic ultrasound in chronic tendinopathy were selected. Conclusion: The evidence in the literature have shown that therapeutic ultrasound is not an effective alternative for the treatment of chronic tendinopathy.
