This document proposes a theoretical solution for the structural reinforcement of the columns of the Parque Santander building in Villavicencio, through the implementation of carbon fiber, which is a suitable material for the structural reinforcement of elements that are working in compression. Experimental laboratory tests and theoretical calculations were carried out according to the provisions of design regulations for fiber composite elements such as ACI 440 2R and ASTM C39. The results of the laboratories as well as the theoretical calculations are satisfactory and an increase in resistance capacity of up to 185% is evident. With these results, a final mathematical model is carried out where a comparison is carried out where the functioning of the building is verified if the reinforcement with carbon fiber is carried out, in this way a series of theoretical solutions is formulated where the result is adapting the building to the provisions of chapter A.10 of NSR-10, which focuses on buildings built before the validity of this version of the regulation.
