For this, a field work was carried out in which information was obtained from 81
managers of SMEs in the service sector of the city of Manizales, through the
application of the instruments General Decision-Making Style (GDMS) and Multifactor
Leadership Questionnaire ( MLQ), which were statistically analyzed through SPSS
Software. The main results indicate that the behaviors are associated with the
components of transformational leadership. The study highlights that intellectual
stimulation and inspiring motivation are the attitudes with which this group of leaders
most identifies. While Inspiring Motivation is configured as the least present.
Regarding the way decisions are made, it was found that these are mainly associated
with rational processes and finally it was established that there is a high correlation
between the transformational leadership style and the rational style when making
decisions. Regarding the results obtained from the statistical analysis, it was possible
to establish that in rational decision making there is a moderate association with the
intuitive and dependent styles, presenting a low correlation with the spontaneous style,
and a negative one with the avoidant style. Regarding the conclusions, statistical
evidence was obtained that allowed us to conclude that the average trait of managers
of SMEs in the service sector of the city of Manizales, their behaviors are almost
always associated with the components of transformational leadership. Finally, it was
recommended to expand in future research to SMEs from other sectors to establish if
the results obtained by this research set a trend against the style of leadership in
companies in the city of Manizales.
