Beyond "El Cielo" is an ethnography of the particular that portrays the author's experience with an indigenous family of the Tikuna ethnic group from the Puerto Nariño municipality in the Colombian Amazon trapeze during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. This family is comprised of Robert Ahué Coello, Nexi Gómez Laulate and their daughter Cristal. This ethnographic portrait in phenomenological key shows the family life story before the pandemic, when they lived in the city of Medellín, their return to Leticia and their subsequent return to their territory in the Doce de Octubre community of the Loretoyacú River forced by the quarantine in the Amazon Department. It also portrays the health and economic emergency in the city of Leticia, the humanitarian aid campaigns and the social mobilization surrounding this crisis. In addition, it relates the experience with the family at the Doce de Octubre community in their adaptation process to this new life in their territory during the pandemic, recounted alongside the making of the documentary "El Cielo". This ethnographic text also reflects on the sociocultural context of the Amazon region during this juncture. Finally, it offers some reflections in essay form about the ethnographic experience and its writing, as well as on the ethical implications of ethnographic fieldwork. It ends with a critique of the gaze in representations of Indigenous peoples in Colombian Amazonian cinematography.
